Shmuncki is a luxury babywear brand, which specialises in clothes that are simply stylish yet comfortable. Made in Britain from soft interlock cotton, the clothes are comfy, breathable and able to be simply thrown in the washing machine.

I was very excited to be offered a chance to review the Woodland Baby cotton Romper, and was looking forward to its delivery.  When it arrived, I was not disappointed. The romper came extremely well wrapped. First there was a sturdy brown cardboard sleeve, which opens with a pull tab. Inside was a white card box, tied with a purple ribbon and bearing a label with the word Shmuncki on it in rainbow colours. Once I opened the box, I found that the romper was wrapped in purple tissue paper sealed with another sticker. I’ve got to say, I loved the packaging. It felt special and luxurious and if I received a Shmuncki item as a gift, I’d be thrilled.

I requested a romper in a size 6-12 months, and it fits my 8 month old daughter really well, with a little space for growing. It has short sleeves but long legs so it’s perfect in the British weather. I liked that the sleeves were slightly longer than standard which meant that my daughters vest wasn’t visible. The romper has poppers between the legs, and two poppers on the shoulder to make it easy to put on your child. There was plenty of room for her head, and the fabric stretches well. It’s also worth mentioning that we use cloth nappies which are slightly bulkier that disposables and we had no problems poppering the romper over our daughter’s nappy.

The Woodland Romper is cream coloured with a pattern of hedgehogs, mice and owls, with some small leaves, all in a soft pink. The leg cuffs and neck are both cream. While wearing it, my daughter seemed comfortable, and wasn’t left with any marks as all off the edgings are very soft and gently elasticated. The romper washed very well, without fading or becoming misshapen, and it resists ceases rather well.

Overall I was very pleased with the Shmuncki Woodland Baby cotton Romper, which retails for £20 and can be purchased from www.shmuncki.com. The quality and packaging of the item are superb, and although I think it is a little on the more expensive side, it is marketed as a luxury clothing item, and it definitely fits that criteria. However I personally think it would make a wonderful gift item if you were looking for something simple, classic, but a little bit special.
