Shmuncki Liberty art fabric Betsey Ann jacket: a review

Recently we were sent a beautiful jacket for Elsie to wear, from the wonderful Shmuncki. This is what we thought.

I cannot fault the beautiful box that arrived with a ribbon holding it’s contents safe. Inside, Elsie’s jacket was wrapped in delicate tissue paper- a lovely overall effect, and a sign that what is nestled inside has been made with love and care!

The jacket

We chose the Liberty art print fabric Betsey Ann jacket in pink, and it really is beautiful. Made from soft jersey cotton, the jacket is a striking white with a delicate pink liberty art fabric trim and hood. The liberty art print really is stunning.

You don’t lose the print when sleeves are too long either. The attention to detail is wonderful!

And because the jacket is white, with such a delicate pink trim, it pretty much goes with any outfit-

from sleep suit to tutu!

The jacket is fastened quickly and easily with poppers.

Obviously, Elsie does not really get into much mud, dirt or food at the moment, but her siblings do! I’m pleased to report that so far, in the three weeks that we’ve had it, the jacket has remained pristine and white- despite being subjected to Elsie’s brother and sisters! That said, I wanted to report back on how the jacket gets on in the wash, so I popped it in for a quick cycle at 30 degrees, as per instructions. It’s come out good as new, with no signs of wear and no fading to the trim at all. And as it is light, it dried very quickly too.

The verdict

I LOVE this jacket, and there are some other beautiful pieces from Shmuncki on the site too. It’s a really lovely jacket for spring and summer, and I love that it has a hood too. As the weather starts to warm up, you don’t always want a hat on your baby, but nor do you want their head to be completely uncovered. At the moment we’re dressing Elsie in a cardigan underneath this jacket as it is a little too cold for such a light jacket, but as the size is fairly generous (we chose 0-6 months, for an almost 12lb baby) I am sure it will see her through summer now too. It’s a beautiful jacket, designed and made with love and care.

Take a look at the site for more information, and don’t forget to follow Shmuncki on Facebook and Twitter too- they’re genuinely lovely people!

We were sent this jacket free of charge for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
